History: Although Rube Foster's Negro National League in 1920 is generally considered the first organized black league, and earlier attempt was made with the oddly-named National Association of Colored Baseball Clubs of the United States and Cuba, of which the Royal Giants were a charter member in 1907. The Royal Giants won the title of the four-team league in 1908 and 1909.

History: The Vernon Tigers played in the Pacific Coast League from 1915 to 1925. In the first few years the team was successful winning the pennant in 1918, 1919 and 1920. In 1922 Jackie May won the pitching triple crown but by 1925 the team was finishing dead last and in 1926 it relocated to become the San Francisco Missions.
